Memorial Day Ceremony

The Memorial Day Ceremony has become one of the most time-honored traditions in La Palma. Having existed for over 40 years, the Ceremony pays tribute to the dedication and sacrifices the men and women of our Nation’s Armed Forces have made. Every Memorial Day, the City of La Palma honors their service in defense of our Freedom and its sacrifice for Liberty throughout the world. 

Mark your calendars! The 2025 Memorial Day Ceremony is scheduled for Monday, May 26, 2025, starting at 9 a.m. in front of the La Palma Civic Center, 7822 Walker St. 

Street Closure Notice: Please be aware that Walker Street will be closed to traffic starting at 8:45 a.m. and will remain closed until the conclusion of the ceremony. The closure will be from Thelma Avenue to La Palma Avenue, with access available for northbound traffic from Bouma Circle and Byrne Drive.

Parking Information: Parking is available at the Central Park Parking Lot, 7821 Walker St., and the City Hall Parking Lot.

Description

The City of Cerritos invites the community to attend a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 26, at 10 a.m. near the Cerritos Veterans Memorial in the Cerritos Civic Center.

The event honors members of the United States armed forces who have given the ultimate sacrifice while defending our nation’s freedom.

The Memorial Day Ceremony will begin with prelude music at 9:45 a.m. The ceremony will include a presentation of colors, comments by the City Council, laying of wreaths, a dove release, and a moment of silence. Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
